Richard S. Sternberg has practiced law in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia since 1984.
A 1977 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with both a B.A. and M.A. in Political Science, Mr. Sternberg worked with the Department of Health, Education and Welfare and its successor, the Department of Education, on civil rights issues while he attended Georgetown Law Center, where he received his J.D. cum laude.
Mr. Sternberg’s professional accomplishments and awards are considerable. He won the largest known judgement against the D.C. Department of Corrections (and got it sustained on appeal), and filed the shortest successful brief in the D.C. Court of Appeals. Among other honors, he has been named one of the “Best Lawyers in Virginia” in litigation by Virginia Business magazine, and is “Av” peer-rated by Martindale-Hubbell*. He has a 10.0 Superb rating from Avvo.
For several years, Mr. Sternberg complemented his legal practice by becoming a licensed real estate broker in Maryland and at the Delaware shore. Operating under the name MWRealty, he is brought discount brokerage services to the high-end market until the real estate crash. He continues to be licensed to perform settlements and issue title insurance in Maryland, Virginia, and D.C
On the personal side, Mr. Sternberg is a computer enthusiast who has published many articles in The Washington Apple Pi Journal. In 2000, his novel, The Querulous Commitment, was published by Xlibris. Mr. Sternberg lives in Cabin John, Maryland, with his wife and two dogs
